BRKCCT-1003 “Contact Center Enterprise Roadmap”

BRKCCT-1003 “Contact Center Enterprise Roadmap”

My second session of the day on June 29th was the BRKCCT-1003 session “Cisco Unified Contact Center Enterprise Overview and Roadmap” in Moscone South room 303.

The session was excellent, and covered both the current versions and vision for the UCCE and Expert Advisor products. Soufiane Houri did a great job presenting the details of the next major release of UCCE, which will be version 8.0. This new release is scheduled for 1Q2010, so the information that Soufiane shared was really a look into a product that is still truly in development. I cannot post any of the content from the forward looking sections of the presentation (the best part, of course) but if you are a Cisco customer or partner (and therefore have an NDA with Cisco) and you join myciscocommunity.com, you should be able to access the full presentation including the forward looking material. The only piece that may not appear in the community is the demonstration video from UCCE 8.0 that we saw in the room. I can’t tell you what it contained, but I can say it was exciting and a welcome move for the product set.

Here are some videos from the first part of the session, which was the “Overview” portion of the presentation, covering the products that are currently available in this product suite.

BRKVVT-2011 “Upgrading CUCM to 7.1″

BRKVVT-2011 “Upgrading CUCM to 7.1″

My first session of the day on June 29th was BRKVVT-2011 “Best Practices for Migrating Previous Versions of Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) to CUCM 7.1. The session took place in Moscone West, room 2008. The presenter was Brandon Ta, a Technology Solutions Architect at Cisco, and he gave a great presentation about strategies to use when upgrading CUCM.

Brandon described three different types of upgrades: Flash-cut, Migration and Hybrid. He gave specific strategies and scenarios for each type of upgrade and discussed when each might be appropriate. I shot more than an hour of video, which I broke up into ~5 minute segments for easier manipulation. The video is uploading to my YouTube channel as time permits. With this much video, it will take quite awhile to get it all uploaded. Once some of the key sections are uploaded, I’ll embed them in an update to this post.

Vlog Entry #1

Vlog Entry #1

I am just finishing up some work-related tasks before I head over to CiscoLive 2009. My first session begins at 1pm PT. This is a single-take video blog post for today, so please forgive the roughness of the scripting. I am still getting accustomed to the etiquette of vlogging, so I have a lot to learn. Feel free to provide your feedback in the comments. I will say that the Flip camera and FlipShare make it ridiculously easy to video blog.

I promise to have a more exciting background for the next post.

View from the 39th floor

Here are some Flip videos from my visit to “The View”, a lounge on the 39th floor of the Marriott San Francisco Downtown. So far, the hotel is excellent and the view from the lounge is phenomenal.

Here are the videos that I shot with my Flip video camera at the GENCCBU-5610 session today. This is the same session where they announced the Salesforce.com and TeleTech partnerships. My battery died on the laptop before I could get the videos transferred and uploaded during the session.

I am noticing that both the iPhone 3G S and the Flip have trouble in low light situations, and the stage lighting in this session caused some serious white-balance issues.

Before the session – yes that is Green Day:

Cisco and Salesforce.com announce partnership

At the Customer Care and Collaboration session today, Cisco and Salesforce.com announced a partnership related to the Salesforce.com Service Cloud offering. Brent Queener from Salesforce.com talked about the Salesforce model and SaaS, quoting Gartner that by 2013, 75% of companies will consider some form of SaaS. The videos below are the announcement and the demo of the Service Cloud offering.

CCBU Customer Contact and Collaboration Session

CCBU Customer Contact and Collaboration Session

Just entered the first session of my week at CiscoLive, GENCCBU-5610 Contact Center and Collaboration Communities General Session. I will post video from the session later today, but here is the escalator ride down to the lower level of Moscone North. That is a really big screen.

Checking in at Delta.com

Checking in at Delta.com

I just checked in for my flight at Delta.com. I have been a loyal customer of Delta Airlines for years, and they have always treated me very well. In the past 12 months, my travel for work has been significantly reduced and I now work from home. Although I miss the perks of being a “Platinum Elite” member of the Delta Skymiles program (a great rewards program, btw), I am actually not too sad to have lost my status. This is my last year as a Silver member, but somehow Delta managed to pass along a First-Class upgrade for the Atlanta to San Francisco leg of my flight today. Thanks Delta!

Found a great theme

I managed to find a really great theme for the site called “Arras”, which is a free theme available on the WordPress.org website. Still working out the kinks and getting some test video prepared to embed.

Live Blogging and Vlogging from CiscoLive 2009

Live Blogging and Vlogging from CiscoLive 2009

I’ll be headed out to CiscoLive 2009 in San Francisco in a day and a half. Throughout the trip, I will be live-blogging and video-blogging the event and all of the various sessions that I attend. I will also be Tweeting from both my personal account (@andymahaney) and the eLoyalty Twitter account (@eloyalty). I’ll even try to rope some of the other eLoyalty folks into posting here.

Don’t forget to stop by the eLoyalty booth at CiscoLive in San Francisco’s Moscone Center. We are in booth #449, which is located in the back of the World of Solutions. Seriously though – if you travel all the way to SF for the conference, would it hurt to walk the last few feet to our booth? We’ll have experts representing the various areas of our business. We’d love to speak with you about Cisco Contact Center products (UCCE and UCCX), Unified Communications (UC), Collaboration, Voice over IP (VoIP), Managed Services and Support, Systems Integration, Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Social Media for Customer Service, or your favorite local sports team if you prefer.

See you at CiscoLive!
